Consultancy

Staff at the UK Longitudinal Studies Centre have built up an extensive pool of expertise and can provide training and consultancy services covering all aspects of longitudinal survey research. We have an established track record of providing technical advice and training to other longitudinal studies around the world.

The Centre provides a range of methodological advice including:

  • Survey design, sampling, fieldwork and data collection
  • Data management and database design
  • Data processing systems
  • Weighting and imputation strategies.

It also provides technical assistance and project management services as well as carrying out scoping studies and research assessing the quality of data collected, for example research on response rates and non-response bias.

Recent clients include the UK Office for National Statistics, the Department for Education, the Home Office, the Department for Work and Pensions, the Department for International DevelopmentEurostat, the Melbourne Institute of Applied Economic and Social Research, the World Bank, The National Statistical Office of Thailand, Birks-Sinclair and Associates, British Telecom.

We also put on a number of training workshops throughout the year to help researchers access, use and make the most of the data available in the British Household Panel Survey and Understanding Society
