Entrance Requirements
Academic qualifications: PhD or MPhil
Applicants are required to hold (or to expect to be awarded) a Master’s degree in a relevant social science discipline, with the grade of Merit or Distinction, or overseas equivalent.
Your Master’s degree should include modules in econometrics or quantitative methods; we would expect applicants to have achieved high marks in these modules. We don’t require candidates to have had high-level training in all the methods they will go on to use; rather, we expect our students to undertake ongoing training throughout their studies.
Very exceptionally, we may admit candidates without a Master’s degree who provide evidence that they have gained equivalent skills through some alternative route (e.g. by working in another social research organisation).
Academic qualifications: 1+3 courses of study
Applicants are required to hold (or to expect to be awarded) a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant social science discipline, with a high 2:1 or 1st class honours, or overseas equivalent.
A research proposal
Applicants are required to submit a research proposal of around 1000 to 2500 words. Please check that your proposal is relevant to ISER’s scientific programme by reading our guidelines in areas of study.
