Research Interests
I am a Professor at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), University of Essex. I am a quantitative social scientist conducting research in the areas of ethnicity and gender. Specifically, I am interested in investigating ethnic and gender differences in mental health and wellbeing as well as economic and labour market outcomes, causes and consequences of harassment and discrimination and, formation, measurement and impact of identity on life outcomes.
I am the Associate Director (Outreach) and co-Investigator for Understanding Society and oversee the study’s user support and training activities. I also lead the study’s Ethnicity Strand.
