Appendix 6.2. Cross-Wave Subject Category Index

This index has five major elements:

  • a sorted list of subject headings
  • the variables categorized under them
  • the full label for each variable
  • an indication of their occurrence in specific waves
  • a link to the relevant variable table in the wave-specific codebook file.

If you cannot find the specific topic you are interested in, please consult the Cross-Wave Subject Category Thesaurus which provides a full list of subject categories, plus additional or expanded terms. These additional terms should aid you in navigation through the BHPS to locate the variables which are relevant to your research interests.
