Abstract:

This report documents the design, implementation, and results of a pilot study testing methods to collect data on physical activity, sleep, and geolocation from Understanding Society sample members. Participants were asked to wear a Garmin Vivoactive 5 smartwatch for one month, to collect activity and sleep data. They were also asked to install a mobile app, developed by Avicenna Research, on their smartphone to collect geolocation data and complete a survey at the end of each day for the first ten days. At the end of the study participants were asked to complete a debrief survey.
