Summary:

This report explores loneliness in people aged 16 and over in England using data from the Community Life Survey (CLS) 2013/14 - 2019/20 and Understanding Society Waves 9 (2017/19) and 10 (2018/20). It investigates: 1) The characteristics of those at risk of loneliness; 2) Whether the risk factors for loneliness have changed over time; 3) Whether any factors predict the alleviation of loneliness over the short term; 4) The relationship between loneliness and mental wellbeing.
