Summary:
We discuss different approaches to the analysis of longitudinal survey data from the British Household Panel Survey (BHPS) on attitudes to gender roles, and their relation to demographic and economic variables. Both exploratory and confirmatory longitudinal data analyses have been performed, by means of correspondence analysis and a set of regression modelling strategies, respectively. Results from correspondence analysis have generally been confirmed by at least one of such modelling strategies. We present evidence that the choice of the analysis and modelling approaches are important in this context.
