Summary:

This note describes an approach to estimating the number of people who take on a caring role and the number who relinquish that role each year. The requirement was for up-to-date rates of transition into and out of unpaid paid that could be applied to 2001 and 2011 census figures. Previous estimates of transitions rates for unpaid caregiving were published more than ten years ago.
