Summary:
Using event history methods we examine the relationship between
residential mobility and gentrification in England and Wales.
While our models of residential mobility conform to
the life-cycle explanations of mobility, we find little evidence of
elevated
mobility in gentrifying neighbourhoods. This
finding is robust across a variety of specifications. We conclude by
discussing
possible explanations for this counter-intuitive
result.
