Abstract:

This literature review conducted by the Centre for the Analysis of Social Policy at the University of Bath provides a critical summary of recent research on families, focusing on lone parents and low-income couples with children. The three main substantive topics covered are family patterns and dynamics; poverty and living standards; and employment patterns, barriers to work and the impact of welfare to work programmes.
