Issues for the Development of a Longitudinal Survey of Refugees

Abstract

The Home Office Immigration Research and Statistics Service (IRSS) asked ISER to consider a number of issues relating to the design of a possible Longitudinal Survey of Refugees (LSR) in the United Kingdom. This report discusses the issues and makes a number of suggestions and recommendations. Topics covered include the use of existing data sources, sample design, data collection mode, survey costs, data linkage, dealing with multiple languages, tracking, informed consent, non-response, questionnaire design, translation and analysis possibilities.
