Unemployment, Retirement, Female Labour Market Participation and Income Inequality: a decomposition analysis for Germany

Abstract:

The results of the paper suggest that especially unemployment contributed to the recent increase in income inequality in East Germany, while the income distribution in West Germany remained remarkably stable over the period under consideration.
