Abstract:

This discussion of Suzanne Bianchi assessment of child care trends in the United States using the heritage USA time use datasets and the 2003 ATUS highlights to contribution of this paper to understanding the differences in child care strategies of employed and non-employed mothers, but also demostrates methodological issues which arise using diaries to measure time in care.
