Abstract:

In this paper we describe what the first five waves of the Europanel can tell us on a broad set of issues surrounding the elderly. The Europanel is an annual longitudinal survey carried out at the level of the European Union with a common questionnaire and similar sampling procedures. We focus on health status, labor market activity, in particular employment rates and exit rates into retirement, income level and structure, home ownership and ownership of durables.
