Abstract:

SQA needs to continue to understand the skills that are required, now and in the future, if it is to maintain and develop qualifications that meet the needs of employers and employees. This report aims to update the intelligence made available to SQA in our 2003 Report in the following ways:
Predicting the industrial and occupational structure of the Scottish economy to 2009.
Making revised recommendations to SQA on where to focus its resources in order to make good the supply of qualifications in the future in specific industries and occupations.
