The Understanding Society Scientific Conference will be held on 11-13th July 2017 at the University of Essex in Colchester, Essex.
The deadline for submissions of abstracts is midnight (GMT) on Monday 13th February 2017.
The Understanding Society Scientific Conference provides an international forum for the exchange of research based on longitudinal household panel studies. Keynote speakers include Professor Sir Richard Blundell and Professor Hilary Graham.
The team particularly welcomes abstracts on:
- Research using Understanding Society, the British Household Panel Survey or other household panel studies;
- Health, education, employment, family and household, ethnicity, income, wealth, consumption and survey methodology.
- International comparative studies of longitudinal survey data
- The team is also keen to showcase innovative statistical methods and research that is policy relevant.
There are three types of presentation opportunities:
- Oral presentations in parallel sessions (20 minute presentations with 10 minutes of questions)
- Poster presentations
- Workshop or symposium (90 minutes) that include 3-4 papers, and allows plenty of time for discussion. For symposium/workshops please provide an overall abstract and one for each paper.
The 2017 Conference is placing particular emphasis on the value of household panel studies and will be followed by a one-day meeting (on 14th July) of key researchers from international household panel studies. These include:
- The Panel Study of Income Dynamics – USA
- Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia Survey – Australia
- The German Socio-Economic Panel – Germany
- FORS – Switzerland
- Longitudinal and International Study of Adults – Canada
