ISER launches ground-breaking new ESRC study of student life

All new Colchester undergraduates are being asked to sign up to BOOST2018, a pioneering new research project led by ISER, which will survey students over the next three years, sharing tips and ideas for making the most of opportunities at Essex.
The study is the first of its kind in the world and will provide fascinating insights on how new students adapt to their work and life at university.

Dr Angus Holford, Senior Research Officer working with the project, said:

“The mass recruitment of the University of Essex Colchester Freshers is a really exciting challenge and we have been frantically busy signing up students throughout the University’s Welcome Week. This will be a really interesting project for the students who take part. As a reward all participating students will get £100. Signing up is really quick and easy – there’s a stand on Square 3 all week or you can sign up online or on our Facebook page – search for BOOST2018.”

BOOST2018 is funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. This is the first-ever longitudinal study of an intake of Freshers at a British university on such a scale. The insights will be useful to universities across the world, as well as policy makers and leading thinkers planning the best way to support students through their time in higher education.
