Understanding Society Scientific Conference will run over three days at the University of Essex, Colchester campus, featuring new research using ISER’s huge UK panel study, Understanding Society, its predecessor The British Household Panel Survey (BHPS) and other longitudinal data.
The scientific conference provides an international forum for the exchange of research based on longitudinal data, in particular using household panel studies.
An important aim of the event is to bring together people from different disciplines and to share research covering a broad range of themes.
Call for abstracts deadline: Monday 16th February
The organising committee would particularly welcome abstracts that focus on Understanding Society and the British Household Panel Survey or other longitudinal studies to examine health, education, employment, family and household, ethnicity, income, wealth, consumption or survey methodology.
Additionally we are keen to showcase comparative analyses of longitudinal data, innovative statistical methods and policy-relevant research.
We are seeking abstracts for three types of presentations:
- Oral presentations in parallel sessions (20 minute presentations)
- Poster presentations
- Workshop or symposium (90 minutes) that include 3-4 papers, and allow half of the time for discussion. This might be particularly suited to showcasing international panel studies, comparative analyses, innovative statistical techniques, survey methodologies.
Abstracts will be reviewed and successful submissions will be confirmed in mid-April 2015.
A full programme and registration will also be available from mid-April 2015.
Prizes will be awarded for the best presentations and posters.
Abstracts will be published as a supplement to the Longitudinal and Life Course Studies: International Journal
