ISER’s Peter Lynn has been elected to the prestigious position of Vice-President of the International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS).
Peter is Professor of Survey Methodology at ISER where he is currently playing a key role in the development of the UK Household Longitudinal Survey, Understanding Society. He is also the principal investigator for the recently-established Survey Resources Network (SRN), set up with ESRC funding to co-ordinate research, training and information about survey design and practice and advise on strategic matters relating to the use of surveys.
He was elected to the IASS following a ballot of the 1,200 members of the association in which he was one of three candidates for the post.
The IASS aims to promote the study and development of the theory and practice of sample surveys and censuses. It also aims to increase the interest in surveys and censuses among statisticians, among governments and the public in the different countries of the world.
Peter will serve in the post for two years, beginning August 2009.
