We are pleased to announce the second conference of the European Social Science Genetics Network (ESSGN) to take place in Bologna, Italy, on 11 and 12 May 2023.
Provisional programOur keynote speakers will be Professor Kathryn Paige Harden (University of Texas at Austin) and Professor Nicole Soranzo (Human Technopole).
The conference is funded by the ESRC Research Centre for Micro-Social Change (MiSoC) and the European Research Council (GENPOP, DONNI, GEPSI).
This conference aims to improve our understanding of how genetic endowments and environmental circumstances shape life choices and outcomes across the life-course of individuals.
We encourage submissions from the following fields:
- Ethics, History, and Philosophy of genetics
- Inter- and intragenerational social mobility
- Gene-environment interplay
- Equality of Opportunity
- Family formation and fertility
- Methodological advances in sociogenetics
We also welcome submissions from related strands of the literature. Preference is given to papers over abstracts. In particular, we strongly encourage Ph.D. students and early career researchers to participate.
The deadline for submissions is 28 February 2023.
We will notify acceptances for presentations and posters by 15 March 2023.
There are no conference fees, but participants are expected to cover their own travel expenses and accommodation costs.
