Professor Peter Lynn wins prestigious SLLS Harvey Goldstein Memorial Award 2026

Peter Lynn

The Society for Longitudinal and Lifecourse Studies (SLLS) has announced Professor Peter Lynn has won the SLLS Harvey Goldstein Memorial Award 2026, at the annual conference, held this year at  Université Libre de Bruxelles

This annual award is organized in memory of Harvey Goldstein and honours a scholar who has made a significant contribution in advancing methodologies for life course studies.

The purpose of this award is to recognize scholars whose methodological contributions have significantly impacted life course research and/or informed the development of policies in a life course perspective.

Professor Lynn is now invited to give the SLLS Harvey Goldstein Memorial lecture at next year’s SLLS Conference in Stockholm.

Professor Lynn leads ISER’s Cross-National Surveys Unit, working alongside institutions around the world on designing robust survey methodology and advising governments on survey design and data collection methods. Peter is also Director of the UKRI ESRC £3million research programme Survey Futures, Chair of the European Social Survey Sampling and Weighting Panel, and Understanding Society Associate Director for Methodology. His research interests encompass all aspects of survey methodology, with a particular focus on methods for longitudinal surveys.

Peter said: “This is a great honour and I am most grateful to the SLLS, a society that does a superb job in promoting a longitudinal approach to social science research. The award is particularly poignant as I was fortunate to work with Harvey on several projects over many years and to benefit greatly from his kindness, friendship and wisdom.”
