Students learn why surveys matter!

ESRC Festival of Social Science logo Local sixth formers can find out why surveys matter, as part of a special interactive workshop being staged by ISER as part of this year’s Festival of Social Science.

60 students from Colchester Sixth Form College will be attending the workshops on March 18 to learn about the importance of social surveys. As well as finding out about how surveys work, the students will get some hands on experience of carrying out a survey and have the opportunity to meet and talk to younger researchers working in the field.

The UK Data Archive is also putting on the Social Science Challenge, a fun quiz for sixth formers. Dr Todd Landmann, academic and metaphysical magician, will host the event on March 16 and the Vice-Chancellor Professor Colin Riordan will present the prizes. Anyone interested in attending this event can contact help@census.ac.uk or call 01206 872013.

The Festival, aimed at promoting social science research and work to a wide audience, is a national campaign co-ordinated and funded by the Economic and Social Research Council.
