Cathie Marsh Memorial Seminar

Peter Lynn, Professor of Survey Methodology at ISER, is presenting the Cathie Marsh Memorial Seminar at the Royal Statistical Society on November 17.

Peter was one of five speakers at the very first Cathie Marsh Memorial Seminar, back in 1994, so this is the second time he has been invited to speak at this event. The seminar has taken place annually since then, marking the life and contribution of Cathie Marsh, a quantitative sociologist who was well loved by all who knew her and who made a remarkable contribution to survey research methods in the UK before her tragically early death from cancer at the age of 41 in 1993.

Cathie was a quantitative sociologist who held posts at the Universities of Cambridge and Manchester. Her books included “The Survey Method” and “Exploring Data”.

The topic of the 2009 seminar is Understanding non-response and reducing non-response bias

ISER is sponsoring a drinks reception after the event.
