Curriculum vitae

Binzhi is an econometrician specialising in causal inference and panel data methods. Currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Essex, his research develops novel estimation strategies that combine Double Machine Learning (DML) with Interactive Fixed Effects (IFE) models, addressing the challenge of unobserved heterogeneity and high-dimensional confounding in longitudinal data settings.

His methodological interests include semiparametric estimation, Neyman-orthogonal moment conditions, and high-performance computing for large-scale Monte Carlo simulations. He is experienced in developing open-source statistical software and is proficient in R, Stata, Python, and MATLAB.

Binzhi holds a PhD in Economics (Econometrics) from the University of Birmingham. Prior to joining ISER, he gained extensive teaching experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Birmingham and City, University of London, delivering seminars on Introductory and Advanced Econometrics and supervising undergraduate dissertations.
