Understanding Attrition on Longitudinal SurveysISER Internal Seminars

This is the second in a series of survey methods seminars organised jointly by the ULSC at ISER and the Centre for Longitudinal Studies at the Institute of Education (IoE). The venue for the seminars will alternate between ISER and IoE, those at ISER being part of the JESSS series.

This seminar will consist of two short papers dealing with attrition, the tendency for panel survey samples to become depleted over time due to cumulative non-response. Noah Uhrig (ISER) will discuss the concept of attrition and the nature of attrition on the British Household Panel Survey. Ian Plewis and Sos Ketende (IoE) will discuss the nature of attrition between waves 1 and 2 of the Millenium Cohort Study.
