Young people’s housing situation is determined by their demographic characteristics (marriage,
children, age), their income, housing market circumstances but also depends on their family
financial help. Differences between European countries in terms of the role of family support
stem from tradition but also from different levels of state housing support. The aim of the paper
is to analyse significance of family financial help for young people in entering homeownership in
European countries using panel microdata.
