Our study aims to widen the knowledge about first years of labour market entry in Spain. We use a new and relevant sample of administrative registers (MCVL-2006 micro data) to analysis the professional trajectories and, subsequently, to estimate two models about the probability of participation in different professional trajectories. The results obtained show that at an aggregate level the labour market entry in Spain can, in general terms, be disaggregated into two basic labour trajectories: in the first place, a traditional labour market entry related with a stable and long duration of working positions and, in the second place, a new labour trajectory characterised by rotation between different jobs and united to a low advancement into professional status. We also obtain, at the same time, positive, though restricted, evidence about the role played by the temporary employment agencies (TEA) and about the existence of a “maturing” period of time before the attainment of more favourable working positions.
