Pro-poor or anti-poor crisis? Different experiences around the EUISER Internal Seminars

This paper aims to discuss the pro or anti-poor character of the change in incomes between 2006 and 2009 in five countries of the European Union: Germany, Denmark, Spain, France and the United Kingdom. In order to do so, the EU-SILC data base is used to estimate growth, incidence curves and to perform some tests about the pro-poorness of growth. The results show very different experiences during these years, from strong pro-poor character of recession in Germany to anti-poor growth in Spain.
