Introduction to Understanding Society seminar for the Scottish GovernmentUnderstanding Society Meetings

This half-day workshop is designed for analysts in government who want to maximise the research value of the new Understanding Society dataset, also known as the UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS). Participants will learn about the study’s rich data on employment, education, volunteering, family and social ties, financial resources, and health, how to use the online resources available to users and how to access and use the data.

The event, will include presentations on:

* The design and collection of the Understanding Society survey
* Study content in focus (for example, ethnicity, health and biomarkers)
* How to access the data

A particular focus will be on the study’s samples, including the British Household Panel Survey and the Ethnic Minority Boost sample. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions about this new dataset, with an open discussion session at the end of the day.
