Friendship Relations in the School Class and Adult Economic AttainmentISER Internal Seminars

We use a novel data set containing information regarding high school friendship relations to construct a simple typology of
social roles. We show that differential social roles in adolescence are important predictors of adult earning disparities.
Our approach and findings illustrate the potential importance of social networks in predicting economic outcomes.
