A life course perspective on human engagement: from moments to years and from students to survey participantsISER External Seminars

Actively engaging in everyday tasks makes up a large proportion of human activity. How to keep people engaged, and how to keep yourself engaged, are questions that educational and occupational psychologists have tried to answer for decades. Drawing on her extensive work in the field of young people’s study and work engagement, Prof. Jennifer Symonds will explain the psychological structure of engagement in momentary and longitudinal forms, present novel research on engagement across the life course in sociocultural context, and discuss how psychological perspectives on engagement might be used to advance research on cohort study participation and response rates.
