The National Institute for Health and Care Research Applied Research Collaboration East of England (“NIHR ARC EoE”) is a five-year collaboration between Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust, and the Universities of Cambridge, East Anglia, Hertfordshire, Anglia Ruskin and Essex along with other NHS Trusts, Local Authorities, patient-led organisations, charities, and industry partners across the region. NIHR Applied Research Collaborations (ARCs) support applied health and care research that responds to, and meets, the needs of local populations and local health
and care systems. The NIHR ARC EoE is one of 10 ARCs across England, part of a £157 million investment by the NIHR across 5 years from 2026 to 2031, to improve the health and care of patients and the public.
We are looking for a Senior Research Officer with a strong background in applied economics, causal
analysis, econometrics and data management, to contribute to the ARC’s themes on “Prevention and Early Detection in Health and Social Care” and “Measurement in Health and Social Care”. The person appointed will work under the direction of Dr Angus Holford on projects relating to a range of health behaviours and outcomes, with a particular focus on food and nutrition. They will also contribute to wider objectives and evaluation activities in both themes, as agreed in consultation with the appropriate ARC EoE theme leads.
The person appointed will help scope literature; apply for, obtain access to and prepare data; conduct quantitative analyses, and undertake activities for Patient and Public Involvement, Engagement and 2 Participation (PPIEP), Knowledge Mobilisation (KM), Knowledge Exchange, impact and communications.
Depending on the individual contribution the person appointed may have the opportunity to co-author a new paper in the field of health, public or family economics. Applicants should be able to demonstrate the potential to publish at the highest level. This is a research position and no teaching duties are associated to this post.
