Senior Research Officer (ASR); Grade 8

The Centre’s research is supported from grants from a wide variety of institutions, including the
Economic and Social Research Council, the Medical Research Council, the National Institute for
Health Research, the Health Foundation, Nuffield Foundation, abrdn Financial Fairness Trust, and the
European Commission.

In this context, we are seeking to expand our team and appoint a Senior Research Officer (SRO) who
will contribute to the research activities of the Centre. The SRO will be line-managed by Prof Matteo
Richiardi, CeMPA’s Director, and will work in close coordination with other CeMPA researchers.
The person appointed will help develop the microsimulation models maintained at CeMPA, with a
particular focus on the dynamic framework SimPaths. Key areas of interest, in addition to computational
modelling, are distributional issues (economic and health inequalities, socio-economic determinants of
health), the economics of ageing, social policy (ex-ante and ex-post evaluation, macro-challenges to
the welfare state), and life course analysis (including intergenerational redistribution).
The SRO may also help to produce research outputs for publication and disseminate the result of
research and scholarship through appropriate activities inside and outside academia, such as
participating in relevant national and international conferences and engagement events. The successful
candidate will have the opportunity to co-author papers and contribute to the development of the
CeMPA research agenda.

This post is fully funded by CeMPA for a 24-month period. This is a research position and there are no
teaching duties associated with this post. Remote working will be considered for part of the time, based
on circumstances and subject to mutual agreement, to be confirmed as the work progresses
