Share welfare system with the UK – experts’ advice for an independent Scotland

A panel of experts set up to advise on the future of the welfare system for an independent Scotland, has recommended the continuation of sharing the same system with the rest of the UK.

ISER’s Professor of Economics, Mike Brewer, joined Darra Singh, a director with Ernst and Young; Martyn Evans, chief executive of the charitable organisation Carnegie Trust and Douglas Griffin, a former finance director at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to examine the SNP’s plans for an independent Scottish welfare system

Their report has been published today, receiving widespread media coverage.
