Curriculum vitae

I am a demographer working in the Understanding Society Policy Unit. My research interests include transition to adulthood, social inequalities, social policy, life course, residential mobility, family demography, and multistate modelling.

Prior to joining ISER I studied for a PhD in Demography at the University of Liverpool and graduated from the European Doctoral School of Demography (EDSD) in Warsaw, Poland. I hold a BSc and MSc in Economics from Moscow State University, Russia, as well as an MSc in Demography from the University of Rostock, Germany.

My current role includes undertaking academic and non-academic research designed to meet the needs of policy-makers and third sector organisations; training and outreach activities to academic and non-academic audience; involvement in developing knowledge exchange activities. Some of my current and recent projects include: investigating life trajectories (i.e. education and employment, partnership, and residential careers) of young people in Britain during the transition to adulthood; investigating occupational downgrading after childbirth; investigating the impact of childcare prices on labour market outcomes; and investigating the impact of housing circumstances on mental health and wellbeing.

I am on Twitter as @AlinaPelikh.
