Derivations of Social Class and SEG on SOC2000

From this page you can download derivation matrices for the previous government social classifications – Social Class (SC) and Socio-Economic Group (SEG) – based on SOC 2000.
David Rose and David Pevalin at ISER derived the SOC2000 approximations for SC and SEG as part of the ERSC Review. The level of agreement between the SOC90 and SOC2000 derivations of SC and SEG are 94.8% and 91.7% respectively.
SC and SEG are not longer supported as official government classifications by ONS. From 2001 only NS-SEC will be used as the only social classification within government.
These derivations of SC and SEG from SOC2000 are not supported by ONS. All queries relating to them should be directed to ISER rather than ONS.
